Mike,
You can do the job yourself in one afternoon with a few tools. First, order a new gasket for the right crankcase cover and locate another cover either buying outright new (expensive) or through salvage dealer.
1. Drain the oil out of you engine
2. Remove your exhaust pipe
3. Remove your clutch cable from the crankcase
4. Unscrew all of your bolts (8mm) (make sure you put them back in the order they came out, or your crankcase will leak oil after installation
5. Gently tap with rubber mallet and loosen and remove right crankcase cover
6. Install new cover with new gasket and re-insert oil.
The Savage is great because it's so easy to work on!
